A report in yesterday’s Beijing Times that covered the impact of the earthquake on Beijing, included an interview with Gu Yongxin the vice director of Beijing's Earthquake Administration. In the interview he reveals that there was no earthquake in Tongzhou after all and that what was felt in Beijing were the tremors from the Sichuan quake. Vice-director Gu also goes on to say that Beijing's buildings have been built to withstand an earthquake of a level 6 magnitude. Danwei reported on some earthquake omens that were said to have preceded or accompanied the earthquake.
